I should be posting that over the long holiday weekend I experienced one of the best days of my life and a once in a lifetime experience, but I can’t.
I posted a blog post, featured by staind.com, about my nephew winning tickets on MySpace for free Meet and Greet tickets to see Staind in Beaumont, TX. We were excited since we already drove to Belton, TX and Frisco, TX to see the guys on stage but now we would get the chance to meet them. I posted on several discussions, blogs and asked several people many questions about the meet and greet experiences so I would go in knowing what to do and what not to do. I took 2 days off work and rented a car and we proceeded to drive up on Tuesday morning. It took 6 hrs to drive from east of Dallas to Beaumont. We followed the instructions by the guy at Atlantic Records that we sent our information to and went to the will call window to pick up our tickets and begin our memorable evening.
We were told they didn’t have tickets for us. In shock, we regrouped and asked the lady to please look again under Staind MySpace meet and greet contest. She said we were not on any of the bands lists and then proceeded to tell us we weren’t on any of the list she had. We had to buy 2 $35 dollar tickets in the upper bowl. Staind of course rocked the house and the concert was awesome but the expectations were at an all time high and we both couldn’t help but feel down and sad, well as down and sad as you could with Staind on stage. Needless to say the 6 hour drive home was more like 5 years. It kind of put a damper on our Thanksgiving, too.
We got home that night and emailed the guy to please tell us what happened. He emailed us today telling us that he was sorry and that this was the first time he had had any problems other than someone missing the meet and greet due to traffic. He asked if there were any other shows near us and unfortunately all the shows in TX were during the holiday and he didn’t get back to us until today due to the holiday.
So the only option would be for us to fork over about $500 to fly to Phoenix or Indiana. I have two little girls and with the way the economy is right now and having already spent money on a rental car and gas to get to Beaumont, there is no way I have that kind of money. So now I have to win the lotto or something which the chances are 1 in a million to get the tickets my nephew won which was a 1 in a million chance. Now my nephew and I have to come up with money to travel to get the tickets we won. And believe me we are going to try to get the money no matter what it takes.
He did offer us some cool autographed stuff but nothing can replace getting to meet the guys.
To all of you people, who have met the band by winning, imagine getting to the window and being told you don’t have tickets. Then imagine all the people you told, oh yeah we bragged, and having to explain to them each and everyone why you didn’t get to meet Staind and reliving that day over and over.
So the most memorable night of my life turned into the wrong kind of memorable.
Someone help me!!!!!!! Please!!!
