Favorite Music
I can't even begin...Staind is on my most-played playlist at the moment. I like Rush, Eddie Vedder, "The Power of One" Soundtrack, Peter Gabriel. I was a dance coach/choreographer so I kind of listen to whatever-- I am hip hop dancer but I played classical piano so I span the ages I guess. Although, I guess my age kind of puts me in the more classic rock genre as a whole.
Favorite Movies
Stand By Me, Step-Up Two (purely for the ending dance scene), The Power of One, Elf (watch with my kids)
Favorite Websites

Both websites have been a cool way to network with people from around the world.
About Me
I teach H.S. English. I have two beautiful children (4,2) that are my world. I am a writer (http://norby.wordpress.com), a prolific reader, a digital media producer, an artist, a dancer. I don't like Pina Coladas or getting caught in the rain.
Ever seen Staind live?

Staind in the classroom Part Three: Thoughts on the experience

Well, I'm still sort of reeling from the experience so I'm not sure how articulate this will be. It was such an incredible thing to be able to sit down and talk with Aaron about this project, music in general and how it all came to be. I'm a teacher; I can't keep up with my grading, half the time I wonder why I teach and I constantly weigh the pros and cons of the career. We don't have great benefits and the pay leaves a bit to be desired, even with three degrees. But I have to say that this… Continue

Staind in the classroom Part Two: Thank you to those that helped me and peace and love to my late friend, Chris Gomez.

For those of you that responded to my earlier post, thank you for helping me with my English project. My students have been working on The Catcher in the Rye and Staind lyrics and while they're not all future novelists or lyricists, they had some interesting things to say. Most importantly, I now have the chance to meet the band with at least one of my students tomorrow night in Denver. Words cannot express my gratitude. Thank you. Lastly, I worked even harder to get this figured out… Continue

Staind in the classroom

I am H.S. English teacher using Staind as a relevant connection to J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye. My students are writing letters to both Staind and Salinger and the impact that Staind's lyrics and the novel have in their understanding of Holden Caufield. I would very much like to send my students' letters to Staind and Salinger to create meaning for their work. How would one go about such a task? This is not so much a rhetorical question as a literal one and I've been trying to… Continue
