Multi-platinum band STAIND announces the much-anticipated release of THE ILLUSION OF PROGRESS (Flip/Atlantic), available August 19. The first single, “Believe,” hits radio and iTunes June 24, followed by a worldwide summer tour kicking off July 4 in Muskegon, MI (with select solo dates) prior to joining the 3 Doors Down bill on July 9 in St. Louis, MO. STAIND will also tour internationally with Nickelback beginning September 8 in Cologne, Germany. THE ILLUSION OF PROGRESS marks STAIND’S sixth album and is the follow-up to 2005’s certified platinum Chapter V. STAIND’S last three studio albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Album Chart, earning their place as one of the most successful rock bands of the new millennium. STAIND joins an elite shortlist of five other artists who have also accomplished this feat, including U2, Dave Matthews Band, System Of A Down, Van Halen and Disturbed.

THE ILLUSION OF PROGRESS was produced by Johnny K and recorded in the home studio of STAIND vocalist Aaron Lewis, with the original band line-up, including Mike Mushok (guitar), Jon Wysocki (drums, percussion) and Johnny April (bass, vocals). The band calls the new project the “most musical CD” they’ve recorded to date, and even treated their fans to a series of intimate, behind-the-scenes “webisodes” posted on staind.com, documenting their recording process.

Comments Lewis: “We went into the studio with the mindset of making our heaviest record yet, but the record that came out has flavors of Pink Floyd and straight-up blues. We didn’t use the same rigs that we use onstage; we used all vintage guitars and amps, and I’m pretty psyched about it! The songs are pretty timeless in their texture.”

In the past decade, STAIND has sold more than 12 million records worldwide. They’ve had four #1 singles that span three different radio formats, including two massive crossover singles “It’s Been Awhile” and “Right Here.” “It’s Been Awhile” spent 16 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart, making it the #1 most played rock record of 2002.

STAIND’S major label debut Dysfunction went double-platinum in 1999, and in the new millennium the band’s Break The Cycle was certified 5x platinum, followed by the platinum succession of 14 Shades Of Grey in 2003, and Chapter V in 2005. In 2002, Elektra Records released a gold-certified MTV Unplugged; and in 2006 released The Singles: 1996-2006, the band’s first-ever hits collection with a separate companion DVD Staind: The Videos.

America’s premiere rock festival, ROCK ON THE RANGE, is back for its second year after a hugely successful inaugural sold out show in 2007, and it’s bigger than ever.

Presented by Right Arm Entertainment, AEG LIVE, and The Columbus Crew Stadium, the multi-stage music and lifestyle event has expanded to two days in order to meet the tremendous demand for tickets and will take place on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH. The line-up for this nationally renowned festival centrally located in the heart of the country includes the debut of the newly reunited Stone Temple Pilots, marking the group’s first performance together in over seven years.
The time that we’re about to spend together is a true celebration, says Stone Temple Pilots’ guitarist Dean DeLeo about the band’s upcoming performance at ROCK ON THE RANGE.

In addition, ROCK ON THE RANGE 2008 is literally packed with performances by the biggest names in rock music today including: Kid Rock, 3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Staind, Papa Roach, Seether, Serj Tankian, Flyleaf, Shinedown, Killswitch Engage, Finger Eleven, Alter Bridge, Filter, Theory of a Dead Man, Sevendust, Default, 10 Years, Bobaflex, Red, Airbourne, Black Tide, Revelation Theory, Ashes Divide, Drive A and more.

Rock On the Range started with a focus on the heartland, but it immediately evolved into a national happening, says co-producer Del Williams of Right Arm Entertainment. Last year, fans came from around the country. The centrality of Columbus, Ohio is ideal for this event because the city is within driving distance for the TRUE ROCK fans in the middle of America.

This year’s two-day event will feature 28 bands on two stages, an expanded festival village, state of the art main stage LED screens, enhanced main stage and second stage sound and light systems, dynamic new merchandise (t-shirts, hats, hoodies) and an expanded main stage field area for fans who purchase Field General Admission Tickets.
The second year of a large-scale festival like ROCK ON THE RANGE is the most critical point of its evolution, comments Joe Litvag of AEG LIVE, the festival’s co-producer. While we accomplished a great deal by selling out the show in our first year, it was imperative to listen to patrons’ comments as to how we could improve the event in 2008. Year one was incredible. But we’re about to raise the bar again with these additional elements and these incredible artists.
The team at Columbus Crew Stadium, the home of ROCK ON THE RANGE, located at the Ohio State Fairgrounds, has also worked hard this past year to build on the incredible fan experience. Due to popular demand Staind's front man adds two more shows to his sold-out run at The Cabaret Theatre.

Following an unprecedented 10 sold-out performances at Mohegan Sun's Cabaret Theatre last month, Aaron Lewis, lead singer of the multi-platinum selling band Staind, is returning to The Cabaret Theatre for a string of intimate solo acoustic performances that will be filmed in high-definition for later use. Performance dates are Wednesday, February 20th - Sunday, February 24th; all shows begin at 7:30pm.

Tickets for Wednesday and Thursday's performances are $75.00 and go on sale Monday, February 4th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster. 01/24/08: Musicians Unite For The Station Nightclub Benefit

John Rich (Big & Rich), Alabama’s Randy Owen, Dierks Bentley, Kellie Pickler and Gretchen Wilson have just been added to the Phoenix Rising! Musicians United to Benefit the Victims of the Station Nightclub Fire concert.

As previously announced, Tom Scholz (Boston), Aaron Lewis, Tesla, Twisted Sister, Kevin Max and Stryper are all confirmed to perform Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.

John Rich will host the country portion of the concert while Dee Snider will do the honors for the rock segments.

Additional confirmed artists include Emmy-nominated composer and musician Marc Bonilla who will serve as music director for the benefit, Carmine Appice’s SLAM!, Gary Pihl (Boston), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Danny Seraphine with CTA, Gary Hoey and others still to be announced.

"Dee Snider of Twisted Sister reached out to me to put together a coalition of country artists to help raise money for the families that have lost their loved ones," commented John Rich. " All of my friends in country music responded immediately with yes. No matter what music you play or listen to we are all one family, and we need to help each other out especially in time of need."

Dee Snider stated, "This event is about music fans desperately in need, so it's important that "Phoenix Rising Musicians United to Benefit the Station Nightclub Fire Victims" be supported by musicians of all genres. We are so happy to welcome John Rich and his rowdy friends aboard for this very important mission.”

The charity event marks the fifth anniversary of the Station Nightclub tragedy in Rhode Island, the fourth largest nightclub fire in U.S. history. 100 lives were lost, 200 others were seriously injured and 65 children lost one or both parents. Five years later, funds available for the survivors are woefully inadequate. Only 15 survivors of the fire qualified for Social Security benefits, and many are still unable to meet their monthly needs.

All proceeds from ticket sales and charity auctions benefit the Station Family Fund, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization founded by survivors of the Station Nightclub fire. The Station Family Fund is committed to providing survivor relief, including costs of ongoing treatment and rehabilitation.

Organizers would like to acknowledge the incredible generosity of the Dunkin’ Donuts Center www.dunkindonutscenter.com as well as East Coast Lighting, Scorpio Sound, WHJY and the many artists and others who are donating their time in putting together this event.

The Station Family Fund, founded by survivors, family members and community members affected by the fire and the Wake Up To Love Foundation founded by Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta and his wife, Phyllis Luccketta are event organizers. While $100,000.00 was raised in 2005 from a benefit concert featuring Tesla, Shinedown, Pat Travers and Carmine Appice, those funds are in desperate need of replenishing.

10/18/06 : Staind Announces THE SINGLES: 1996-2006 and DVD Companion, STAIND: THE VIDEOS

Flip/Atlantic Records has announced details of Staind's first-ever hits collection, THE SINGLES: 1996-2006. The album arrives in stores on November 14th. A separate companion DVD, entitled STAIND: THE VIDEOS, will be released simultaneously.

The 16-track album will feature such #1 rock radio smashes as "It's Been Awhile," "For You," "So Far Away," and "Right Here." In addition, it will include never-before released live acoustic cover versions of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," Alice in Chains' "Nutshell," and Tool's "Sober," plus a live acoustic version of "Everything Changes." The version of "Outside" appearing on the album will be the version that originally appeared on the FAMILY VALUES TOUR 1999 album with Fred Durst.
