Love the album, all the songs are decent... but nothing seems to be JUMPING at me!! All the other albums seem to have a few tracks each that really capture me, but not this one...
Anyone else feeling me? If not, what songs are grabbing you??

:) wot i do is, i put the album(or just a song) on repeat, and just listen to them and you'll realize how much you're missing (for Staind at least)

to be honest when I first got the cd i felt the same way, but the more i listen to it the more i realize how great this album is, for example Rainy Day Parade builds up to about 2:51 then it explodes in my face, and I thought I heard the highlight of the song at about 3:18 and already satisfied with it... the song suddenly jump to full throttle and release its true power! and it's like OMG THIS SONG IS TOO GOOD I CANT HANDLE IT (#)@*$*$(#@(#$@)##!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and then after the song i had to change my pants.. :)

There's just so much going on in Aaron's voice!

ohoh :) the first song that jumped on me's gotta be The Corner, i remember After listening through the song for the first time i was like speechless then i was like 'whoa.....' and i had to change my pants.. x)
i really love the whole album. i would have to say one of the best of their's so far. i think you really need to sit down and listen to the album.
Pardon me is the song thats sticks out at me right now cuz of my marriage................ I'm about done after 24 yrs.
Although very different from their other albums, "The Illusion of Progress" has many songs that jump out at me. My favorite two are, "The Corner" and "Pardon Me." As a matter of fact, "Pardon Me" was the first to basically jump out of my radio at me and has since taken the spot of my favorite Staind song.
I pressed the submit button before I was done and can't go back to edit so I'll add this now. For me, "Pardon Me" jumps out at me because of the emotion in the song, not because I can relate to it. I'm very happily married. It's the songs with emotion that grab me. I feel the same thing for "The Corner."
\have aimed to please the mainstream... love the versatility in 'Tangled Up'... amazing how a band with such heavy potential can handle such chilled country tune, Aarons scale of skill is amazing! He has a knack for ballads... definitely replaced good old ed Vedder in my books
Aaron id the man when it comes to spilling emotion into a song... have a look at the old youtube footage of him singing outside with Fred durst on the family values tour.... Staind was unknown with nothing to lose... Aaron pours his heart out!

Cheers Michael, you've hit the spot on that one... Staind has always been that way...listen, listen & listen... the songs just get better! I have to admit that Illusion is a far cry from Tormented or Break the Cycle but i'm mellowing as they do! Everyone has theur own beatles... Aaron & the boys are mine! M

I didn't like this album at all. I think chapter V was awesome.. and 14 SOG was awesome too.. and it goes without saying the previous ones were even better.. They took a different route that is just way to different
It's funny how the albums almost fit perfectly with my life. I picked up the first when I was just 12 or 13 years old. I had so much anger, blame and sadness inside of me, and it made me feel so much better to hear someone put that into music. I feel like they've kind of grown up with me. When I look back at those years, I still have a lot of pain in those memories. But I'm still here, and who cares what everyone else thinks (the way I am), and everything is ok, and there are good things in life. I can make it through the bad times (everything changes). It's almost like, every time one of their albums comes out, it's giving me what I need in exactly that moment. and if I have a shitty day, thought, moment, or event, the older shit is still there for me. I love the broadness of their music. Aaron can scream at the top of his lungs, whisper nearly silently, or sing something smooth and deep, it all hits the right notes with me. Whenever I get a new staind cd, I pop it in the player on repeat for like three days straight. Hearing each song once is definately not enough, you have to hear the music, hear the words, and then it all comes together.
Right now, my favorite track on IOP is pardon me, ive just split from my long term girlfriend, and am finding it hard to deal with life, an feel that i can relate to the lyrics and the feeling in the song. However the whole album for me is wicked. For the first time the other day i listened from tormented right through to IOP, and to hear the progression through the albums, well it gives me hope that one day i wont feel like i do right now.
break the cycle for me will always be number 1 cd, only because its the first cd that i actually brought with my own money :D lol, loved every song on there could put it on repeat n listen over n over again. as for illusion of progress, i get the exact same feeling! think my 4 best songs are just on that cd, Believe, The way I am, pardon me, the corner.... So dunno what to say think i love all the cd's they have made

Legends! :D
