Just wondering how Outside came about.

I heard that it was on the family values tour, aaron had the courus, but no verses, and the rest came when he was up on stage with fred singing it in front of 14000 fans.

But where does the J-Cat version fit in to all this. I know some of the lyrics have changed, but is the story of aaron creating a song in front of 14000 people true, or is what ive heard wrong?

I must admit i love both versions of Outside, i love the rawness from when aaron was with J-CAT, yet i love the heavier staind version of outside....and i also love it when aaron does it on his accoustic tours....depends on what mood im in i gess as to which one i listen to.

Anyway if anyone can help awnser my question tht be kool :-)

When he says he came up with the words in front of 14,000 fans, he means for the verses and the bridge. In an old interview he said he had songs that he sang different words to every night, whether he was playing solo or when he was playing in J-CAT, because he didn't have any set in stone. Outside was one of those songs, and so was It's Been Awhile, but not as much.

As the story goes, Aaron was going to play Black Rain (a song they played over the phone to the record producer that got them the deal in the first place) but Fred asked Aaron why don't you sing that one song you were messing around with at my house, and I'll sing the choruses with you. So in Aaron's words, "That was an insurance policy I just couldn't pass up". So he went out with Fred and made up a lot of the words to the verses and the bridge of the song while he was playing it that night, he hadn't practiced and had certain words set to use.

I hope that helps?
