One of my favorite parts of my first Staind concert, was how awesome all of the fans were. I've been a member of the fanclub and this site for a while, but I havent really participated a whole lot. Now that I'm unemployed, I have a lot more free time to do things I enjoy. (lookin at the positive here) It was so great to be surounded by so many people that love my favorite band, just as much as I do. Which brings me to Staind covers on youtube. I love watching them. Young kids, old fogies, people with british accents. Some suck, some sound great, but I guess it just makes me happy. I don't look at it as people trying to BE Aaron Lewis. These people do not CLAIM to be Aaron Lewis. But to me, they're broadcasting their love for the songs, for the band. Well, I saw a comment for one of these covers today, and it really effin annoyed me. It was a kid, prolly about 15, their voice was pretty high, and they were DEFINATELY not Aaron Lewis. The title of the video said "im still not amazing like Aaron Lewis!! " and someone with a staind related username( i wont use the username here, just in case) wrote "Aaron lewis can not be topped..so dont cover his easy songs" I think this is absolutely retarded. Tell me that this big staind fan has never belted out while these amazing songs are playing. I'll tell you one thing. I am NOT a good singer, but I'll be damned if I go to my next concert and sit there quiety! I say, belt it, even if you suck! maybe you'll even get better while your at it. Or maybe it'll make you feel better, or maybe your proud of it. Maybe you suck, but you did take the time to sit down, learn the song and give it your best. Maybe someone else enjoys it. (my kids love it when I sing to them, regardless of the quality) I guess this might seem a little stupid, but it really did piss me off! So, what do you think? should amatures do staind covers or what?

I think people can do whatever they want. I have a lot of staind covers on YouTube, none of them have any singing. If you want to put you singing a Staind or whoever song online, and that makes you happy, then go right ahead. The people that watch it and get annoyed or pissed off or make fun of the person... if you don't like it, don't watch it. It's just like all the people that go watch videos of a band they hate and post about how much the band sucks. Obviously you have no life that you're wasting your time looking up things you hate just to talk shit about it. People are just retarded, as a whole.

Why not? Ive been singing Staind covers for almost 9 years, I experienced people saying stuff like that to me, some are good and some are really bad, but it doesn't really matter what they say, Stainds music makes me feel calm and peaceful whether I'm singing along with it or just listening to it, that's all that matters. music is for everybody...

great replys Erik and Otan...couldnt have said it better....had it not been for youtube, i would've never heard Otan for the first time....or heard E's kick ass guitar playing...everyone isnt going to like it, but people think it's cool to put someone else down, makes them feel like they are better....I say if your such a good critic...let's hear yours...ya have to look past he negatives and see the positives... sounds easy, but it's so true...I usually dont leave any feedback on youtube... if it's people that i know, i make sure they know how i feel about it...and both these guys above me are awesome....

I think everyone has their own opinion. Obvisously the person doing the cover is doing it because the music has touched them enough that they want to recreate the feelings they felt by hearing the song and turning into something they to can sing and feel them even deeper. I've covered alot of staind/aaron's songs for almost 3 years now, ever sence i started playing. He was my inspiration TO start playing and now i love doing what i do and putting some of them on YouTube for others to watch and listen to if they feel like it. I say Do what makes you happy and just forget about anyone with negative comments, clearly your not trying to top Aarons voice or Stainds music...... Your just giving him and the band the highest level of respect by playing and enjoying their music...

ofcourse they should. fuck the people on u tube. they are such assholes sometimes...people only make those kinds of comments just to provoke. that is horrible! keep on keeping on is what i say. i belt it out too, even though i know i can't sing that well, i know i sound good alone in the car and that is all tha matters to me.

Beautiful music was made to be enjoyed. Personaly, when I enjoy a Song, I grab my guitar and start playing it OVER AND OVER. I'm kind of a butcher 'cause I'm not a grat singer, but I like my vertion. I also love some covers from great singers like Otan (yeah dude... you totaly rock!). I encourage everyone to make their own cover of your favorite song (even if it's not a Staind song).

i_see_thru_u: This is not America. This is Internet. WORLD WIDE Web. I'm from Argentina BTW.

That pisses me off. Aaron Lewis once said that he does this for the love of music, and by no means to be a rockstar. If someone loves the song enough to belt it out and post it on YouTube, chances are, he's singing from the depths of his soul. If you're listening to the music strictly for the vocals, you're a disgrace. Yeah, the vocals are great, but it's more about the lyrics than anything else. On The Singles 1996-2006 album, Aaron did a cover of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. You all know this. And yall have to admit, there was more than one moment in the song where he was a little pitchy. And did anyone give a fuck? LOL! Nope. Any Staind fan knows it's a lyrical experience. And we all jam out because we can relate. And fuck it, I'm a chick and I rock out every chance I get. I sound like shit, but it's not about people hearing me. It's about the empowerment I feel when I hear it. So to whoever ragged on the prepubecent little guy, you're pathetic. And who are you to judge anyone?
I feel better now. LOL.
