I just watched it twice n it's not as bad as people have made it out to be...The last five minutes of it made me cry but besides that it was good.

Yeah, cried everytime I watched it. Why didn't you think it was that bad, Lisa? :) Just curious. It depressed the hell out of me, but then again, lots of things depress the hell out of me.

Sidenote - Writing words is a difficult process - much different than composing actual music. Lots of people might think Aaron was being lazy, but really - most of writing is in THINKING about things, ya know?

I just felt akward watching my heroes act so snooty.

It's normal for bands mates to butt heads during recording an album, it's nothing new. To me the recording was just bad timing, Aaron had to much on his plate during that time n Jon's heart just wasn't in it. Everyone has made this DVD sound like the end of the world when to me it's a lesson to show fans it's not easy. The DVD shows fans that this business is not all roses, bands have deadlines, pressure, and opinions that sometimes don't agree with others. This is an ugly business n people don't realize what is involved, they think of the fame and fortune n not the big picture. idk I guess that's what I got out of the DVD.
I agree 100% with Lisa. Not as bad as I expected. The DVD I loved, the Album I loved, I'm buying 3 more copies today. Woot! It's release day. And 30 something days til I see 'em live!
this is awesome!!!, it looked so difficult the way it was all put together but managed to make an amazing album
I have to agree with you Lisa as well. Making record after record is a task in itself. Like when Aaron said in the video he hit that wall and used all his emotions and feelings and there just wasn't anything that he had left or could find. That just shows you it's really difficult to keep popping out songs and hits. But they continue to do it, as you saw it is very hard and the ideas and personalities conflicted big time. Even when Mike was talking about his guitar rifts and how he thought the other way would be better. It really just seemed everyone in the band they wanted to do it their way and no one wanted to come together as a team. Thank god they had Johnny K to bring it all together and combine everyone's thoughts and ideas into the music we have come to love and appreciate. I really enjoyed watching the video and seeing what Really goes on behind the scenes in making an album. The part that got me was in the end when it was posted in writing Staind after 17 years takes the stage with out Jon Wysocki. That had to be tough for everyone.  But hey that's the business and sometimes that's what happens.

Awesome thoughts!! Johnny K definitely caught my attention. That guy was pure glue. The album was awesome, and I think he deserves a lot of credit for the final product. Also, definitely some of Aaron's best lyrics to date ...

... and ah - the blister POP!

"... go back to your penis in your left hand, click button with your right ... " Hilarious! :)

Also, thanks for talking about aspects of the DVD I hadn't thought of, guys! :) Awesome sentiments - you cheered me up! :) I'm not a musician, so my thoughts/opinions are speculative. I am a filmmaker, though, and if anybody was ever fighting like that on my set ... end of story!!!! lol Then again, I don't have an Atlantic contract hanging over my head.

These guys are sssooo talented.

Very similar take, here.  I belive Aaron has way too much on his plate atm, which probably was definitely one of the biggest points of contension in the making of this album, as well as what appears to be the internal destruction of the band.  As was apparent in the DVD (w/the making of "75"), and as Mike said, the solo thing is something Aaron should and needs to do for himself, as well as obviously spending SOME time w/his family, and whatever else he feels the need to do for himself (hunting shows, political stances, wtf ever).  And, no one can fault him for doing what he feels he needs to do for himself.  But, he IS stretched out too thin, and something has too give.  Sadly for us Staind fans (and his bandmates) it appears it is the band that is lower on the priority list, thus is what had to give.  Between his obviously consuming stress level from being pulled in so many directions and trying to do so much, w/the pressure of stringent time constraints, and seemingly trying to make us die-hards happy (along w/proving the haters wrong), w/some of his bandmates probably felling a little (righteously) miffed that Staind and this album has seemed to be the lesser priority (and, due to his stress and looming deadlines, even less able to compromise and work things out w/them in making the album than usual) added to the already stressful process of making an album, in the first place, they're just so disconnected, w/seeming (and, understandable) pent up resentment.  Yeah, that energy could make their playing the music live that much more real and amazing.  But, it just really makes me so f'n sad and sick to think that to at least partly appease those of us that wanted more of the older, harder sound, the state of the band, now, can be attributed.  I'd MUCH rather have never had this awesome album than have our beloved Staind in the state they're now in...  I'd much rather them to never have made another album at all, than for there be what appears to be such resentment and disconnection towards and with eachother (or, anyone, for that matter)!  I just love them all, and want them to be happy w/eachother, and w/life in general...

I AM still hopeful, though, that they'll work out and overcome their issues (particularly if Aaron gives himself a break by not trying to do so much at once all the time), yes, including Jon.  I know...I know, but a girl can have hope, right?  Maybe, if Aaron focuses on his solo thing (and/or other interests) for a year or two, or three, or whatever he wants or needs, after touring for this album is done, then maybe they'll be able to (and, WANT to) come together as Staind in a better state, feeling the magic together, again, and being able to take the expected head-butting, not wanting to compromise, and overall stress of creating w/others better, and UNITED.  I WILL hold out hope, anyway.  But, I'd be lying if I said I weren't so very sad w/what making this album has done.  No matter how much I love the way it sounds, I'd truly rather it never were made, considering what appears to be the cost to the guys...

Damn, I had that thought, too ... ironic in the worst way.

i'm confused.  this video delivers everything we love about staind. naked honesty.  what they give to us in this DVD is pure, raw, (surely somewhat edited, LOL) honesty.  REALITY TV by nature is a bit awkward...but I appreciate this behind the scences, gift really, they shared.

... somewhat edited, for sure. :) Although, Aaron said they only turned the camera off a couple times. I wonder how much was left on the editing room floor, just to make it documentary length. Probably a lot of great stuff. There are a couple shots in the trailer that actually weren't in the movie ...

What always impresses me is Aaron's sense of humor, which a lot of the critics miss (for their own nefarious purposes).

It's also VERY cool they posted the vid here, seeing as how a lot of people don't seem to be getting their packages on time.  :) I love the bit where Aaron discusses the 'Outside' fan tragedy ... brutal stuff. I can't imagine living with that as an artist. This is definitely the most powerful companion DVD they've put out yet. I must have watched it ten times the past week.
