I wouldn't say heavy metal, or nu metal, or whatever. I don't think dysfunction was heavy metal... If i HAD to label them... I'd say they were a hard rock band.

Permalink Reply by ben on February 6, 2009 at 11:26am 100% agree with you^ While I think that's partially true, every band/movie has a label of what it is. Just because a band or movie fits into a certain genre doesn't mean you're going to have any expectations... you're just going to watch or listen to what suits your taste. Your not going to go watch a horror movie if you don't like horror are you?
For instance, rap is rap, hip hop is hip hop... and I don't enjoy either of those kinds of music. So it's not like in a music store i'm going to head to the rap isle.
I don't like labelling things too much, like death metal, heavy metal, black metal, thrash metal etc etc. But bands do fit into category's of metal, hard rock, soft rock, pop, rap, hip hop etc, to me.
I don't think putting Staind in a genre is any way of trying to define their music. They make good music. Fact.
