Haha =)
like it
haha that was awesome =)

I wouldn't say heavy metal, or nu metal, or whatever. I don't think dysfunction was heavy metal... If i HAD to label them... I'd say they were a hard rock band.

comon you have qoestion is more heavy then hard rock song aaron do some screaming in this song so good ...
Alternative hard rock...... in a nutshell. =]
I don't know and I wouldn't care.I just say to people I listen to rock music.what kind of rock...I don't know
well :) art takes a free form, and a good artist, or a great band who's daring and talented would explore and extend their fields, and ofcourse ignore what those money-making-good-for-nothing-critics has to say about their works.

Personally I don't think you can define Staind's music by putting them into a genre, cos they're constantly involving, which is why sometimes you see ex-staind "fans" crying about how Staind has 'gone soft' , 'changed', or 'different'.

So Staind is Staind, they're on a whole different level, which is why I love Staind.

And as far as genre goes, to me it's nothing but a 'stereotype'. For example in film study, simply based on 'what it looks like' and label them is just not good enough.. it's almost like judging the book by its cover and it is the flaw of the genre system.

The worst way of enjoying music or movies is to have expectation of what it would be, and "genre" is a big indication that.
^ While I think that's partially true, every band/movie has a label of what it is. Just because a band or movie fits into a certain genre doesn't mean you're going to have any expectations... you're just going to watch or listen to what suits your taste. Your not going to go watch a horror movie if you don't like horror are you?

For instance, rap is rap, hip hop is hip hop... and I don't enjoy either of those kinds of music. So it's not like in a music store i'm going to head to the rap isle.
I don't like labelling things too much, like death metal, heavy metal, black metal, thrash metal etc etc. But bands do fit into category's of metal, hard rock, soft rock, pop, rap, hip hop etc, to me.

I don't think putting Staind in a genre is any way of trying to define their music. They make good music. Fact.

100% agree with you
sometimes label bands is good and sometimes not for instance i listen to death ,thrash melodeath,power metal and staind is one of my fav bands maybe my fav , even if they under hard rock genere i listen to them , but like you said label music is good becasue rap is rap rock is rock metal is metal =)
Tormented was their hardest album. Track 1 is Tolerate and the last track is 4 walls and these are 2 very different songs. So even back then, they always mixed it up. Very hard to categorize this band..just about impossible. My question is what genre will Aaron's solo album be considered? Same as Staind?
