Disgusted
I am so sick of hearing about all these little girls going missing then turning up dead... what happened to the days when you could go outside without worrying about that kind of stuff! There is just no excuse for the ugliness in this world. Children should be allowed to be children, play, skip rope, wander thier own neighborhoods to find other kids to play with. What is wrong with these people?? I am just sick of hearing about children dying, being raped, tortured etc.

We were just talking about this at work this weekend. There was a 9 year old girl missing in Missouri(a couple of hours from where I live) . She was walking home from a friends house. After 2 days of searching they found her dead. There was also the 7 year old girl from Florida that they found in a trash dump in Georgia. I completely understand your disgust. I have an 11 year old daughter and I am afraid to let her do anything. As a parent I think you want to let your kids have a certain amount of independence and freedom, but it is just not worth the risk. Kids should be able to be kids. They should be able to play outside, walk to friends, and even get off the bus without worry. Ben Ownby(the boy that was abducted a year or so ago and was found with Shawn Hornbeck- who had been missing for 4 years) was just getting off the school bus. I don't know what the answer is, worse yet I fear there isn't one. So I just never let my daughter be alone. Someone is there when she gets on and off the bus. Everytime I hear about a kid that is missing I just feel sick. And you are right there is no EXCUSE for the ugliness in this world.

I am 43 years old and I remember roaming all over my town as far as my bike would take me. I played for hours outside without adults anywhere around. I remember knowing not to talk to strangers, and the town I lived in, we all knew each other. I guess the world was so small then. I guess because we didnt have CNN and the Internet, we werent aware of the child abductions and child killers out there. It just makes no sense to me how any could hurt, rape or kill a child. I dont have children and for years I wanted them badly, I find that at this time and the way things are in the world, I am glad that I never had kids. Hug your daughter tightly!

I am 42 years old and remember doing all the same sort of things. The town I grew up in had a population of 108(including livestock). I think things probably did happen back then (before CNN and Internet) but I think ALOT more things happen now. People are way more bold and brazen than they used to be. It is beyond me how anyone could hurt a child( or animal for that matter). I think it is beyond most people who have some sense of sanity. It is really scary to be a parent today. Like I said earlier, you want to give them some freedoms and independence but at the same time you are scared to let them out of you site. I miss the type of world that we grew up in. I do hug my daughter tightly every chance I get and I hug her even tighter after I hear about a child being abducted, raped or murdered.

the world is full of too much hate...its passed on from generation to generation....parents abusing their kids is usually where these phuck-ups come from...and the cycle continues...most abusers have been abused themselves, which makes thi sproblem engrained into society....schools need to be more aware of possible abuse at home...child protective services needs to step up and do a better job....parents need to communicate with their kids and find out what's going on in their lives....alot of times the signs are there and go undetected...dateline does the best series where they catch these creeps in action...using the net to stalk kids...this is what's out there...if we're not talking to our kids...someone else will....and this is usually how it all ends....

I think it's not only hurting and abducting kids,which is so disgusting I can't even discribe it.but it's the whole fucked up world.everybody (well..not everybody..but you know what I mean) just abuses people,flies into big buildings and makes war like it's normal.what are these people thinking?? I just can't understand why you'd like to hurt someone,if it's a little child,an animal or whatever.and the worst of all..they never get the right punishment or even won't get caught.I can be so mad about this!

agreed...i think it's because people become mad at the world...they end up having no remorse....and if you have no remorse, or morals...then anything becomes possible....people just turn on society in general, and do shit that normal people can concieve....i feel sorry for the families...the ones who have morals and remorse when they do something wrong...they are victims also....they have to live with and deal with the pain that has been thrown into their worlds...it all starts with the bringing up or raising of these children...i understand sum people aint wired right, but the majority of the problems stem from their bringing up....fucked up parents make more fucked up people...thats pretty much the problem...stupid and ignorant people should'nt breed...period...

accually, i dont think its happening more often now than before, the news just shows you nothing but NEGATIVE feedback to get ratings, im sure the abduction rate has went up, but not that much, your just hearing more about it because the news channels gets better ratings from shit like that. i never watch the news, EVER. because they never show uplifting content, 99% of the time its negative.

I just turned 23.. Im finishing up college and plan to be a cop.. I feel like when i have kids im going to be that over protective dad... Not for everything.. Just i totally understand how F'ed up the world is.....
i guess its better to be safe then sorry right?
