Mr. Lewis, how do you feel about guns now after this?
what if it was one of your daughters in that school that got shot?
EXACTLY.
maybe it is time to re-evaluate things instead of trying to fit a "country boy red neck" persona. This shit just isn't right in the world. Gun freedom needs to be fixed. This is bullshit.
Just put yourself in the shoes of the parents whose kids got shot all because of this gun freedom bullshit.

Do you know that the states with the strictest guns laws (MA, NY, IL) also have the highest crime rates?
Check the crime statistics; the states where the citizens are free to own and use firearms have low crime rates. States where the citizens are disarmed have high crime rates; It's not difficult to understand. A criminal probably feels alot safer robbing a home in MA than he would in TX. In Texas, there's probably a good chance he'd be shot by the homeowner.
The entire country was horrified by what happened in Newtown, CT. But to come out in the days after this tragedy and bash someone else for their stance on guns is completely ignorant. The overwhelming majority of horrific instances involving guns involve ones that were obtained illegally. The thing that really needs to change is how we handle people with mental illnesses. Our current medical and legal systems are not set up adequately to deal with all of these people. The entire process for handling anyone with a mental illness needs to change.
Permalink Reply by John B on December 26, 2012 at 4:23pm haha, funny story... texas had the second highest rate of gun crimes last year next to california totaling 699 people murdered. massachusetts on the other hand had 122 people murdered and ny had 445. as a matter of fact southern states make up the largest population of gun crimes annually also being the ones with the most lenient gun laws. you should prob check the statistics before you say check the statistics. i would also say that not everyone that shoots up a place has a visible mental disorder and that the majority of gun crimes around the country are done by bad people with no mental disorders. theres really nothing ignorant about questioning someones public stance on guns after yet another mass tragedy and on such a horrible level, i cant think of a better time.
Permalink Reply by jdanek630 on December 26, 2012 at 5:47pm I do find it interesting that the people who tend to think that abortions (murder) should be legal because a woman should have the right to choose what to do with her body TEND to be the very same people who want to take away a person's right to own a gun because it could possibly be used as a weapon in a future murder. This isn't always the case, but I do find the stereotype to be true in most cases, especially here in MA.

Permalink Reply by Adam on January 10, 2013 at 6:34pm Bit late on the matter, but sorry for the loss of the dear children in you're country.I've spoke to freinds and work mates on this matter and we don't see how America can just give out guns as easy as they do,even if the gun law's have been the same for hundereds of years, times have changed and people have changed,no wonder murders and the amount of crazy killers are through the roof in America,it just seems normal over there that people grow up from a young age and see its ok to shoot a gun, even if they are tought to use it for the right purpose, the fact of it being a gun can trigger an unstable persons immagination, and who knows what could happen, like what has happened! But i agree with Nima if guns are used for hunting and you have a perimit then by all means do you're thing,But only certain guns should be legal to save lives,In the UK we have to have a permit for a 22 air rifle, and farmers and game hunters need a special licence and must undergo a test to own the rights to a shotgun.I think if America took this approch then deaths and murders would decrease, but that will never happen because what ever the higher authaurity says, the public would just vote against it because they are just that used to things the way they are, and are set in they're ways esspecially the older genaration,so the higher authority would never even try and change the laws.
Permalink Reply by jdanek630 on January 10, 2013 at 8:50pm I was going to value your opinion, and then I read this, which indicates that you know nothing about gun laws in America. Come on over here and try to earn your license to carry and purchase a firearm. You pretty much have to do everything short of undergoing a prostate exam to earn your LTC. At least here in the Commonwealth of MA. It's both expensive and tedious. "Give out guns"? Please...

Permalink Reply by Rasmus Teglgaard on January 31, 2013 at 11:45am You are right - it's way too late. But saying "guns don't kill people - PEOPLE kill people" is downright idiotic. I mean, of cause people kill people, but let's face it... it a hell of a lot easier to walk into a school and kill 20 children with an automatic rifle than it is with a knife. USA is the country with most school shootings, ever thought about that? And to all those in the thread that say illegal guns kill most people, the school shooting almost always happens with the parents legal firearms - and stopping "mentally ill" people from buying guns, won't fix that - cause the parent could be perfectly normal.
Stick by your "constitutional right", I don't give a shit. Fact is, I'm from a country where firearms are illegal, and we have maybe 5 murders in a year. Of cause we are a way smaller country, but everytime a gun is used, it's almost always just some gangs members shooting each other, which I couldn't care less about.
Nobody will agree on this subject, but everyone (including me, I know) has an oppinion. Fact is, the US will never change this, so we should just stop wasting our time.

First off, it would be impossible to rid america of guns. Secondly, guns aren't the problem...the ones pulling the triggers are. Lastly, tragedies happen. It's unfortunate and unfair, but we as people will never change that. Where there is good people there are equal amounts of bad. If someone feels the need to kill a person (or people) and they are crazy enough to do so, they will find a way to do it. A crazy man with a gun can walk in a gas station and shoot and kill say 10 people...a crazy man without a gun could kill those same 10 people by driving his vehicle a 100 mph into the gas station. We were born into sin and it will be a forever problem until the end. No man, government, or law will ever keep us safe. Crime rates according to sociology is dependent on many factors. Race, climate, social status, etc. If its cold weather = less crime due to people staying inside of their homes. Poverty stricken communities = more crime due to wanting personal gain. Gun sales have nothing to do with the amount of crimes comitted anywhere. Anyone can obtain a gun anywhere at anytime. Illegal gun purchasing and stealing will never stop. People with bad intensions are the problem.
