Aaron from NC

Bullshit you get from people when they find out you like Staind

People always ask me why do I like Staind with the fucking pussy music they play, or how can I stand that bullshit emo music. Well for one, last time I checked, I can like any damn band or artist I choose to like, because I have all genres of music in my computer, from rock to country to rap to hardcore metal. Two, Staind is not even close to emo. The day I see Aaron, Mike, Jon, and Old School go on stage in tight pants, excessive makeup and eyeliner, Aaron having long emo hair, and other women's clothing items, will be the day I would say they are emo. People who cry or feel emotional listening to Staind's music have a reason to do so, because they can relate to Aaron Lewis and Staind, I myself find Fade and For You to be the songs that relate to me the most. But 14 year old boys and girls crying over fucking Hawthorne Heights singing about "cut my wrists and black my eyes"? Fuck that. I'm waiting for the next Staind album and if they have a single that crosses over to top-40 radio, that everyone in the fucking state of North Carolina claims they are a Staind fan, just because they know that one song. People have come up to me when I'm wearing a Staind shirt telling me how much they like Staind and whatnot First, I'm pretty cool when you tell me you like Staind, so I'll usually strike a conversation up with you. I don't mind if you like the "new" Staind, that's how I got into them, was with Right Here, when it played on top-40 radio, but if I ask you, name another song by Staind, and you start having to think hard, you are not a fan. Shit, at least tell me you know It's Been Awhile or So Far Away I own every fucking Staind album, including Tormented and the Singles album. I will travel anywhere in the state of North Carolina, and any neighboring state they may be in for a show. I'm only 19, but I love all of Staind's music. Many times, when I can't sleep, I put on some acoustic Staind, like Epiphany or the acoustic version of IBAW from TIOP. Although I like Epiphany, I would have to say my ultimate favorite acoustic Staind song would have to be Let It Out. When I went to my first Staind concert, well, first concert of any kind back in May 2008, the people sitting next to me were talking about Tormented and Dysfunctional, and I said, "I will shit bricks if anything from Tormented is played, or if anything from Dysfunctional is played besides Mudshovel or Home." They were surprised that I knew all of the songs they were talking about. People even tell me how I'm wasting my money to see Staind. Well if you call singing at the top of your fucking lungs, having every muscle in your body aching by the time the show is over, or losing your voice for the next two days after a show, "wasting your money", well I'm damn proud to have done so. I apologize for rambling and pissing people off, but I just needed to say it :)

lol.. it's b/c of their singles. their singles are NOT an accurate reflection of the content their cds contain. therefore, dumbasses judge from singles on the radio without actually listening or knowing what they are talking about.

i can somewhat relate, but i kind of like it... meaning, i like how everyone and their dogs don't like staind. for some reason when bands/musicians/singers/rappers become very famous and everyone loves them it turns me off of them and makes me dislike them and get sick of them.

so maybe it's a good thing people are ignorant a-holes.
I definately agree. Once everyone likes them they justy overplay the songs until you're sick of hearing it. Lol whenever people ask what my favorite band is and I say Staind they're like "who?" but yea I hate people who will hear one song and go around saying it's their favorite band
there is no other band out there that gives you that "fuck yeah" feeling better than staind....
Staind has been my favorite band since dysfunction came out. For all these haters out there just turn the dial. It is a free country. Like people bands mature and change. I have never hard a bad Staind song and I feel so much from their songs. Aaron is the greatest singer/songwriter of my generation. No matter wat you feel or are going through in life there is a Staind song to get you through it. I would agree with you that Let it out is my favorite accoustic song to. I am going to see Aaron Feb13 n my birthday in A.C. can't wait.
It feels weird to me that I'm the youngest person posting on here, I think I am anyways, I'm 19. What would I have to do to become a "member" of the Staind family, I don't know if I would be "allowed" because I'm so young. I'm glad I found the forums, because it's hard to talk about Staind, or hell, even music in general to my friends in NC. It also feels weird for me to own every Staind CD, including Tormented at my young age.

Also, not sure if any of you would know these people or are these people, but, at my first Staind show in Fayetteville, NC in May 2008, I was sitting with this lady and her husband. The lady said she used to work for a radio station in DC called 99.1HFS, until they became a Spanish Top-40 station. They treated me very nice, actually got me Chevelle's autograph, got me a Coke, and just made my first concert experience very enjoyable, along with Staind making me hurt and not talk for the next two days :) If any of you guys know them or are them, please let me know. I never got their names.
that's true I would be lying if I said I have known staind since day one of the 1st debut album
believe it or not I started listening to Staind only this summer I started by listening to everything changes and outside they rocked my world and then started to send the mp3 to my friends in college and they started like them too
the song I didn't like though is paper jesus I liked concept of the song but not how they sing it
later Aaron
Paper Jesus kicks ass dude. one of they heavier songs on the album and i think it balances out the album. sang perfectly to the music of the song. haha i may be a lil bias but dude, i dont think staind can put out a song that is poorly put together. jus not in them. haha holla in kc jan 17.

and Aaron. dude im 21. been a staind for years. like almost half my life. since i was 13. 1st time i heard BREAK THE CYCLE i felt like "damn this guy knows what goin on in my head better than i do" i feel i've always been apart of the STAIND family. you should too. and yea i own every album too. feel proud and laugh at all the dumbasses that talk shit out of ignorance. haha thats what i do. n i think im the only one, maybe one,of my friends and i that listen to STAIND. i dnt try to force it on them either. they either like it or they dnt. i dnt care either way. i listen to STAIND because it make me happy and i enjoy every second of it and im DAMN PROUD TO SAY IT AND YOU SHOULD BE TOO! hahaha have a good day man.
im 23, been listening to staind since Dysfunction.. I could care less what anyone thinks

Also I love my friends who hate on staind, but love country music..

Im like... ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!!?!?

Listen to country music.. Generally it's grown men whining about problems and life....
LOL dude, I like country music, but I agree about the whining. I said in a previous post, that after hearing Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, I would love to have heard Johnny Cash do some Staind covers. I think Epiphany, Let It Out, and IBAW would be amazing to hear with Johnny Cash singing.

Hahaha, my brother is the same way. We went to the Greensboro NC show in 2008, and he said that Staind sucks live and that Aaron doesn't have good live vocals either. Fast forward to December 2008. I had to re-purchase my copy of 14SOG, because I lent it to my friends dad and it got messed up in the CD player. I put 14SOG on in the car, and he says how Staind sucks on the albums too. :o

One of my managers from work always used to give me shit for liking Staind, cuz he thought they were horrible.
It took me 8 months, but I made a fan out of him :)
