Anyone else dislike the direction of Aarons Solo shows now?

Luckily, when I saw Aaron in july, it was mostly Staind, covers, and a few country songs. Now it seems like its 75% country, with a few Staind songs and Covers. The "wow" factor to me atleast of seeing Aaron acoustic was all those awesome Staind songs stripped down and played. Seems like thats a thing of the past at this point though... Wish he'd dedicate some tours to strictly country and some for just Staind stuff...

Rammi i do agree that Ben is cool as hell....dude is funny as fuck and good at what he does....however....i have to agree with the majority here....i do like the country stuff....most of it....but....i do wish Aaron played more Staind songs at solo shows....fuck dude i just went to 2 shows back to back and he played 90% country, both shows.......would be nice to hear songs like say...Bong Hits....or Excess Baggage.....or the occasional Black Rain....or Staind songs like Please (which is bad ass stripped down) etc.....dude he even said to the crowd that he forgot the words to Angel because he hadn't played it in so long....but like Nima said, and i agree.....he can do whatever the fuck he wants....and he should....but my opinion is that the true diehard longterm fans are begining to stray....one by one...i have now been to 4 solo shows and find it hard to see myself going to a 5th.......i do like the country stuff but that is not what made me listen to Aaron in the begining........just sayin...

I get so tired of you guys saying shit like, "its his right to play whatever he wants" - we already know that! He could go out on stage and take a huge shit, throw it into the crowd and then light the place on fire if he really wanted to. It doesnt matter. All we are saying is that this country bullshit sucks. Were staind fans, not jason aldean fans. That is the point. HIs solo shows used to be amazing, & everyone seems to agree with that, now his shows are just like everybody else's shows. Theres a setlist, the fatass plays that stupid instrument the entire time to songs that it doesnt even make sense to be played with, and there is no announcement of what music is going to be played. If he would just say that he was doing a country tour then cool. Good for him and we would all agree with that, but us staind fans dont want to pay $$$$$$$ to listen to country. & to whoever said that you would listen to aaron lewis sing children songs, well Im sure that you would, but you probably wouldnt pay to hear those songs, and thats basically what were getting now.

^ I'm kinda starting to agree, especially listening to these new songs on YouTube... just not a fan.  The first country album was passable.  As Aaron said, songs that he wrote that weren't meant for country that all the sudden can sound a little country with a steel pedal guitar - I'm OK with that stuff... cuz that sounds good still (i.e. vicious circles, tangled up in you), but songs that are 100% completely written for country... that's what all of these new songs sound like besides Anywhere But Here, but that's not even new!!

Also, Aaron used to play for 2-2.5 hours easy EVERY SHOW... occasionally it'd stretch to 3 hours with talking!  Now we're lucky to get 90 minutes.  Part of me doesn't blame him here...he wants his career to be prolonged and he can sit on the chair and sing for the next 30 years unless his smoking catches up with him.  But with that said, the fact he'd play for 2.5 hours sometimes made the show special.  That he ended it whenever the hell he wanted and played whatever the hell he wanted.  It was such a unique setting.  This is no longer the case, and as I said earlier, I don't think these new songs showcase his talents one bit - his voice first of all (which is 100% showcased on songs like Please and Fill Me Up and even his own song Angel), and also the lyrics seem like normal run of the mill boring country music.

I'm one of those people that usually could listen to him play children songs... even when he sings Time After Time, that chorus fricken maximizes his voice.  These new songs don't seem to at all...maybe Party in Hell a tiny bit.  Just my 2 cents.

I suppose at the end of the day, Aaron wants to keep Staind separate in what he wants to do with regards to his solo career. Everyone knows him from Staind and will always want songs that he made from Staind to be played.

Ok, I've listen to staind for as long as I can remember. Once I heard Aaron put into words what i had been feeling for so long, I was stuck. Now, that was 15+ years ago, I'm 29 yrs old.
The man has a gift of reaching us. By Aaron letting us into his feelings, he saved me more then once. I grew up with his music, as he got older, the pain and torment changed into the love for his family. You can see that in his music.
So, although I would love to hear those classic staind songs broken down to acoustic, I will still buy my ticket as soon as possible everytime he comes around. The man could sing lullabies and I will be there b/c it's still Aaron Lewis!
As a true fan of the man!!!!! Feb. 4th Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, MS!!!! See ya there!!!

Sure Aaron has changed his solos. He wanted to get back to his country roots. I personally believe that Aaron is so talented at what he does he will be sitting right on top. He played at Durham NC Tuesday for almost 2 1/2 hours. I think bringing Big B on with him is GREAT. Aaron has done alot for other musicians allowing them to play with him. Look at Otan Vargas, Alexa Carter, State of Illusion. Sometimes this is how they get there start. Look at LoPro. Country may not be everyone's desire but to see someone go from metal like staind crossover to country is a big risk. Aaron said it himself. I applaud him for taking the chance. I would pay to see him sing anything not because I idolize him but because he is so good at what he does, he is very down to earth and easy to talk too and one of the probably few rock musicians that cares about his family and his roots.

GO AARON keep on rocking and hell yeah to Big B. Love that dobro/steel guitar.

Amen sister! A true fan of the man!!!

The only thing that i dont like is the dumbasses who buy a ticket and get totally drunk and loud at his shows. the man is a musician, a great one and i dont care what he plays as long as i get to see him and hear him play it. The drunk assholes who scream and yell through the whole thing dont need to buy tickets, they ruin it for us TRUE fans!!!!

I typically don't weight in on these kinds of threads because I love Staind, but hate country music with every fiber of my being and find it relatively disrespectful to bash a man on his own site... but honestly I agree 200% with Nima.

Additionally, if Aaron's intentions are really to keep his solo project and Staind separate, than the first step is to stop playing country boy at the Staind shows. (I'm tired of watching Aaron get pissed off when he starts to play and there is always at least one jerk in the crowd who is pissed off about him playing the country stuff at a staind show and is vocal about it...) News flash: this thread proves it is more than the one asshole in the crowd who does not want to hear Country Boy at a Staind show- bulk of us are just respectful, quiet, and let Aaron do his thing. And the second step to separating the solo and Staind stuff is to stop emailing me- a person in the fanclub- about Aaron Lewis solo tour dates and presales. Make it separate if that's what it is- make it so you have to sign up on Aaron's solo site to receive info on the solo stuff, because at this point... after seeing 5 solo shows over 5 years and traveling to 5 states to see those shows I am not interested anymore if "Aaron Lewis solo show" = country music, ibaw, outside, and ben kitterman. No disrespect, I think Ben is probably a very cool guy, and I think he is very talented- I just don't like the sound.

Damn... I feel much better now!  But no, really Nima you hit the nail on the head man. I also seriously agree with I sEe ThRu U

I agree that his country music is definitely not my thing. He also should spearate his shows and indicate if its all country or not. I especially hated it when he played Country Boy at the Staind concert in Baltimore. I don't want to hear his country stuff at aStaindconcert. I understand the booing, most fans aren't there for the country. He should take the Sully Erna approach, Sully does solo stuff and he has special concerts that indicate he is playing Avalon, his solo album. At the Godsmack concert, he had a quick promo video for his album and then you didn't hear about it again. It wasn't forced on you. Even though Sully's stuff is far from country, Aaron should take the same approach. Play a quick promo vid if you want, then leave it aside. But as stated he is Aaron Lewis, he's free to do whatever he wants, and my opinion is worthless haha.

I wish he wouldn't have that guy countrifying all the Staind songs.
