Aaron really needs to lose the guitar on the live show

Anyone agree? it takes away from the live show SO much. all he does is just stand there now like a statue. if it wasn't for mike, it would be so fucking boring watching them live.

I miss the old days when he would actually put all his concentration on singing, walk around the stage, bend over, etc. etc.

The thing is that it's not even necessary for him to be playing the guitar. I mean it would be cool on a couple of songs, but not the whole fucking show! it's just waaaay too fucking boring.

LOSE THE GUITAR AARON, WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN PLAY IT, BUT WOULD RATHER WATCH YOU ACTUALLY PERFORM A LIVE SHOW, NOT SIT IN A CHAIR LIKE YOU DO IN THE STUDIO.

Sorry everyone, i'm a little late jumping in on this conversation, but just to put my 2 cents in:
I don't care what Aaron does. He can stand, sit, jump, run, lay down, whatever- it doesn't matter. The music is awesome, and his voice is breath-taking. I don't go to shows to see how he can move.. I go so HE can move ME. <3
Aaron has always maintained just being himself through all of the pressure of people trying to change him, and I admire the shit out of him for being able to do that. The entire purpose of music has been completely distorted. Music nowadays seems like it's more about fitting in or looking cool, and less about sounding good and hav\ing some kind of lyrical substance. Aaron, in my opinion, is one of the most original and talented singer/songwriters ever. If you actually look at music before it got so distorted you'd see that MOST of the successful musicians just stood there and sang/played. How about the Beatles, Johnny Cash... or even Elvis! People, like yourself, have become too caught up in the superficial aspect of music and lost sight on the actual music itself. Hey, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but speak for yourself... don't say shit like "we all".

"Fuck you to the jaded and the FAKE, l'd like to see what you would do. Fuck you and the judgements that you make, we're not all perfect just like you... like you" ;)
as usual.....well said.

well.............this is something ive been dealing with for my entire carreer. unfortunately youve got it all wrong. back in the day when i would aimlessly wander the stage admiring my shelltoes lol that was fake that was forced that was everyone telling me that what i brought to the table wasnt good enough that was everyone telling me to change my style whiten my teeth lose my friends....not be me. i didnt give in to them and im certainly not going to give in to you if you need visual stimulation to be moved by music then maybe staind live isnt for you. i do appreciate you as a fan cant say the same of your opinion. last i checked music was for the ears and not the eyes but listen, when we start sucking to your ears you let me know ;-)

that was cool Aaron

your an inspiration to all your fans!
I like performances with a mixture. It is sometimes more entertaining when the singer walks around and interact with the crowd, but at the same time its awesome to see them really into what they're singing when they are just still and singing if that makes sense :)

can we put this discussion to bed now !!! ?

Sorry, Frankie, but any that know me had to know I would have a response to this once I noticed it lol.

Although I feel it definitely was not originally worded in the best way, I KNOW I and many at least somehwat understand where nima was coming from, since many of the "Staind Family" have had this discussion on the old board and in person. Do we absolutely LOVE Aaron w/just a guitar solo, feeling he's truly feeling and expressing the lyrics then? Heck, yes. However (partcularly a little over a year ago when Aaron first started playing the guitar on all the songs during Staind shows atm, sans Mud), his also focusing on guitar playing while singing truly DID seem (and still somewhat...at least sometimes still seems to) take away from his fully getting into expressing the lyrics w/full emotion (as when it was just him and a mic lumbering around the stage). Many of us still love nothing more at a Staind show than such times when he drops the guitar (like during Mud), and grabs ahold of the mic/stand (like during Suffocate) seemingly pouring out full-on lyrical emotion. Yes, we are there for the music...the emotion behind the music! BUT, when Aaron doesn't have the distraction of playing the guitar while performing w/Staind, you can HEAR the difference in the delivery, HEARING more emotion come from him when he's walking around, grabbing the mic/mic stand, vs. when he's playing the guitar. So, although we don't NEED to see him walk around and/or grab the mic/mic stand, we do get MUCH more fired up when we see him do that, knowing it will most likely SOUND so much better/more emotive. And, if you just LISTEN to (not watch) Staind bootlegs, you CAN discern the difference.

That being said, the shows are unequivicably still f'n awesome, and I of course will always be at and THOROUGHLY love them! However, I (and, yes, MANY others) did/would prefer Aaron to drop the guitar at Staind shows, focusing completely on/getting lost in expressing the emotion of the lyrics. But, if Aaron is more comfortable, enjoys it more, or wtf ever, playing guitar during Staind shows, then that's the way it shall be. Staind shows are still some of the best one can ever see, Aaron playing the guitar, or not!
yes, yes and agreed.

im sorry your unhappy. everything changes, what can i say. you miss seeing aaron BEND OVER? lol, sorry i couldent help crack a joke. i think he may feel to jump around onstage is contrived unless he really feels it. in other words there is a big difference between thinking "ok im gonna bust out with this freaky headbanging" and "oh,i better move around or else it will look boring up here". i cannot speak totally for him. i will speak for myself- i started playing bars in 1983. yes i used to jumps, kicks, spins. in 1988 i jumped down a dumbwaiter shaft at the restaraunt i was working at. i hurt my back. i have mechanical misalignment. its gotten worse over the years. i cannot stand up for long. my back stings waiting in line at wall mart. i cannot go to a concert unless i have a seat. i spend the 2 hours before the show sitting as much as possible so i can stand up the whole gig. if u see me sidestage watching a band, im usually sitting on my ass. i will be 44 years old in march. they dont call me oldschool for nothin... so, during the 28 years ive been gigging, things have toned down. sometimes i wish i could do as my old mentors (van halen) onstage. but i cant. i would rather stay still and play more accuratly, than to jump around and make more mistakes. i dig the music. i nod my head to keep time. whenever i can ,i gaze at the audience, i make eye contact. i wink at girls, i nod at cool dudes. i let people know i se them. to me, most musicians seem to never look at the crowd. they seem scared of them. ever notice that? they look right over everyones heads to the back of the crowd. they are chickenshits. they are insecure. if u have too look at your fretboard the whole song, you are not of the caliber to be up there anyways lol. ok, thats enough babble. i just came in to maybe defend one of my best friends. i think it was cool of you to post your message. i love friction. it keeps things rolling. johnny a.
