Aaron and Politics=a change in fans?

I'm curious to find out why Aaron decided to start speaking up about politics starting around the 2008 election. Where were his political remarks when Bush was in office? I've been a Staind fan for a LOOOONG time and never heard him be so outspoken when it came to the government.

This goes beyond "Country Boy." This is what he chooses to bring up in interview and even in concert. He comes off as a typical ultra conservative and absolutely anti-Obama and anti-liberal which is pretty shocking to me since he's a stoner from "liberal" MASS, raised by hippie parents. I know he hate's California, but I'm sure he's loving that Humbolt, CA weed that he smokes ;)

I'm just surprised, that' all. I'd like to hear more Bob Dylan from him than Toby Keith and Kid Rock-esque themes.

Do you think his fan base has shifted a bit? Or that the concerts are now full of more of a "country" rather than a "rock" crowd? Input please!!!! Thanks ;)

Also,idk why everyone always has to play the role of "biggest fan" on here. you gotta have a mind of your own sometimes. it seems like some of you will do/believe/like anything aaron ever does or says, like some sort of over-obsession.

Haha...Amy is funny! I just like the music, and I try not to overanalyze it. I dont really care for the political shit, but I respect him for saying what he feels to a room full of a few thousand people, and laying it down on a record. That takes balls. I know I cant stand up in a room that big and voice my opinions like that.

I think people are misinterpreting what my point was (not surprising since so many people tend to go crazy if they hear an opinion other than 'AMERICA IS THE BEST DAMN COUNTRY EVER!') I won't bother trying to elaborate, but it does give me hope for Staind and Aaron fans if there is even one person here who understands where I'm coming from! Gracias!

I think I do but Angela feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Its kinda like John Lennon. When he came up in the Beatles he was fun loving, drinking, girls, pop music phenom, no question. You never heard him speak of politics, religion, etc. Then a few years later he starts down a path of enlightnment and ends up going down a completely different path, both privately and musically. Did it effect his fan base? Yes. I am sure some people just didnt get on board with the new direction he was taking or even just the politics he was speaking. So I think that's what she is trying to open a discussion about, not whether he is a good singer, artist, whatever, but how or if people are reacting to this new direction he is taking in his solo shows. Or I could be way off, I've had a bad day lol
