Are you a REAL Staind fan?
Do you have Tormented?
Did you see them in concert this year?
Did you own every album?
Have you listened to them for over 10 years?
No? Well that's perfectly cool. Because the above - doesn't make you or break you as a Staind fan, at least in my opinoion. Just because you may not know Staind had a cd labeled Tormented or just because you don't own every album - plays no factor at all as to what makes a REAL Staind fan. Let me go on please:
Do you love Staind's music? Old and new?
If you were given the chance, would you go see the concert?
Would you sing along with a song, that gets played on the radio?
No matter how large your playlist, Staind shows up at least once every 9 or 10 songs?
That's the true stuff right there. That's what loving a band and their music is all about. It's not about how many CDs you own, how many times you have met them - it's about loving the music. That's what makes you a REAL Staind fan.
I made this post because of all the asshats out there telling everybody that "The Illusion of Progress" sucks because it's not Staind's music. "I don't like it because it's not the heavy stuff I love!". Well that's too damn bad. YOU are not them, YOU do not tell them what is or what is not their fucking music. THEY tell you. End of story. So it's the 'quote' REAL 'unquote' Staind fans that hate the music that piss off.
If you don't like the new album then quite simply you do not like Staind. You liked them for who they once were - which is perfectly fine, but please do not come on these forums, OR on Youtube and try to act like you are a REAL Staind fan because you liked them 12 years ago.
Real fans enjoy the music, love the lyrics, and support the band. That's what music is all about. /end rant

I agree totally no matter how many songs I have on my ipod I'd rather listen to staind. I've been listening to them for 7 years and I will never get tired of there music

I think I am a real Staind fan. I own all albums, not the original recordings... but all songs, covers, singles, ooh, and I have the JCAT album too :) I love Aaron as a person, as musician (he's the BEST)... he's my hero. He's lyrics saved my life when I had problems. Staind means everything to me about music, life... Staind is a part of my life.

I agree with this completely. While I do have Tormented, saw them this year, own every album, and have listened for approaching 10 years, love Staind's music, both old and new, would go see them again in a heartbeat, sing along with a song played on the radio, and have an obnioxious ratio of staind to other bands in my playlists, it makes me no better than any other fan. If you love a band's music you're a fan. period. well said.

I have almost every song and I listen to Staind all the time. That means that I listen to all of their music, all they way from Tormented to The Illusion of Progress. I wish I could go to one of their concerts, but I'd have to pick a good time to go. I also agree with what has already been said. If you don't like the newer stuff, keep it to yourself, because the rest of us don't care. The rest of us still like them and always will. Staind is the best. Done.

Bands evolve creatively and new experiences influence/inspire NEW and DIFFERENT lyrics/music!! That's life!! But yes I have all the music, never miss a show near me whether band or Solo Acoustic (will travel LOL), participate in M&Gs and support the band 100%!! Plus, I've met some cool ass staind fans all over the place, which is an added bonus!! ;)

I love how I made this post last year in August 2008, it sits for over a year, and now everybody is replying. It's great to see everybody posting and putting up their comments. As Marissa said, bands evolve. The new CD has some great lyrics in their songs, for those who STILL don't have it - give it a try.
