Do you have Tormented?
Did you see them in concert this year?
Did you own every album?
Have you listened to them for over 10 years?

No? Well that's perfectly cool. Because the above - doesn't make you or break you as a Staind fan, at least in my opinoion. Just because you may not know Staind had a cd labeled Tormented or just because you don't own every album - plays no factor at all as to what makes a REAL Staind fan. Let me go on please:

Do you love Staind's music? Old and new?
If you were given the chance, would you go see the concert?
Would you sing along with a song, that gets played on the radio?
No matter how large your playlist, Staind shows up at least once every 9 or 10 songs?

That's the true stuff right there. That's what loving a band and their music is all about. It's not about how many CDs you own, how many times you have met them - it's about loving the music. That's what makes you a REAL Staind fan.

I made this post because of all the asshats out there telling everybody that "The Illusion of Progress" sucks because it's not Staind's music. "I don't like it because it's not the heavy stuff I love!". Well that's too damn bad. YOU are not them, YOU do not tell them what is or what is not their fucking music. THEY tell you. End of story. So it's the 'quote' REAL 'unquote' Staind fans that hate the music that piss off.

If you don't like the new album then quite simply you do not like Staind. You liked them for who they once were - which is perfectly fine, but please do not come on these forums, OR on Youtube and try to act like you are a REAL Staind fan because you liked them 12 years ago.

Real fans enjoy the music, love the lyrics, and support the band. That's what music is all about. /end rant

*edit* changed my wording around a little

I agree
I love the new album. It doesn't matter if it is like their old stuff. As they change as people their music will change!!
Agreed. Love staind, love their music regardless. I'll always be supportive and appreciative of what they do!
lol...agreed...i love Staind's music....old and new
I liked them when no one knew who they were and I like them even better now. Bands evolve, that is what makes them special.
I'm not religious but......AMEN to that!! The new cd is AMAZING!! I love the old hard stuff too and have every one of there cd's but wouldn't you get sick of a band if every song and album sounded the same?? It is great to hear how they have evolved......to me, they are constantly improving as musicians!!
here's the thing...
hearing TIOP for the 1st time
was a little like taking a swig of vodka
when you were expecting redbull...
shocking, yet satisfying
and we all know how fab they are together....yum
i totally agree with you have written!...ive been behind staind since tormented and will continue to be...these guys are awesome and thank them for writting beautiful music! and i hope they continue too..
Can anyone help me please?? I have a Breaking the Cycle Cd that the cover is autographed by the entire band and the Cd is brand new. I was wondering how much it would be worth. I don't want to get rid of it but these are tough times and my family and I need money. Can anyone assist me??

I hate to be a downer bro, but I would suspect it would only be worth $20-25 USD. You might get a hardcore fan to put up a little more than that, but that's it. You would need to wait until the CD is no longer being pressed and shipped, which could leave you waiting quite a while. The only reason why Tormented is becoming somewhat valuable (in terms of $ worth) is that it is no longer being produced. It's all supply & demand - the supply is no longer there, yet the demand still exists > the price increases! I have three signed copies of BTC, I wouldn't expect to get much for them, because I know there's millions (no exaggeration) of signed copies of that album out there.
Wow did Matt actually post here.. and Stacey. That makes me smile!!! And I agree with everything you had to say. Staind will always have a place in my heart. I love all their stuff. Like Stacey said, bands evolve and true fans evolve with them. I am a Staind fan for life!!!
